NOTE: – Current Stock Expiry Date: June 2027 Apivar is a trusted, industry-standard treatment for controlling Varroa destructor in honey bee colonies. Using the active ingredient Amitraz, Apivar works through contact exposure, providing continuous, controlled release of the miticide as bees move naturally throughout the hive. This ensures thorough distribution and dependable knockdown of Varroa mites across all frames. Why Beekeepers Choose Apivar Highly effective against Varroa mitesApivar targets adult Varroa through direct contact, achieving significant mite reduction in a single treatment cycle. Gentle on beesThe strips are safe for all life stages of honey bees when used as directed. Residue-controlled and slow-release formulationAmitraz is released gradually over the treatment period, ensuring consistent and extended efficacy. Simple to applyStrips are hung between brood frames—no vapourization, temperature dependency, or specialised equipment required. How Apivar Works Apivar contains Amitraz (500 mg per strip), which affects the mite’s nervous system through contact. Worker bees brush against the strips, pick up micro-doses, and carry the active ingredient throughout the colony. This results in widespread contact exposure for mites and consistent mite mortality over the full duration of treatment. Pack Size 12 StripsDesigned for smaller apiaries or beekeepers needing flexibility across multiple hives.Standard dose: 2 strips per brood box. So this pack will treat 6 standard size brood boxes. Application Instructions Important: For detailed instructions on how to use Apivar please refer to the manufacturers brochure. Use 2 strips per brood box (one strip per 5 frame nuc). Hang strips vertically in the brood nest, ensuring they’re accessible to nurse bees. Treatment duration: 6–10 weeks, depending on colony strength and conditions. Remove strips at the end of the treatment period—do not leave in the hive long-term. Apply only during periods of no honey flow to avoid contaminating consumer honey. When to Treat For best results, apply Apivar: In early spring, before honey production ramps up; or Autumn, after honey harvest and before winter population build-up. As with all Varroa mite treatments, It is important not to use the same treatment twice in a row. Consecutive use of a treatment that operates under the same mode of action can result in mite resistance to the treatment. Important Notes Do not reuse strips. Do not use during a nectar flow intended for human consumption. Rotate treatment modes as part of an integrated pest management (IPM) strategy to prevent mite resistance. Always follow Australian regulatory guidelines and the label instructions. Apivar is approved for use in Australia under permit PER95905 making it compliant with local regulations for varroa management. View the permit for detailed conditions of use, product label and directions of use. Ideal For Backyard beekeepers and commercial operators looking for a proven, hassle-free Varroa treatment that will be effective for 6 to 10 weeks in the absence of a honey flow.
